Distribution or habitat

Primarily Central America, as well as Mexico and northern South America.

Description:

Parota is among the most majestic and aesthetically pleasing of tree species in its native range. It is used to make items such as doors, windows, furniture, cabinets, and for shipbuilding.

Color and Appearance

Heartwood is light to medium brown, sometimes with a reddish hue. Darker streaks of brown are sometimes present.

Commercial notes

Workability:

Easy to work with hand and machine tools. However, tearout is common during planing, and fuzzy surfaces may be seen after machining, especially on quartersawn surfaces. Glues and finishes well.

Durability

Rated as durable to very durable; mixed insect resistance.

Parota is available by container load. Can be supply in a regular basis.
