Distribution or habitat
The area of natural distribution is from Belize in the north to the Amazon region and in the West Indies.
Description:Bully Tree Wood is renowned for its very heavy, dark red-maroon–colored wood, which is a wood appreciated in industry. has a straight or interlocked grain; wood with interlocked grain has a striped or ribbonlike.

Color and Appearance
The heartwood is generally reddish-brown, although it is not uncommon to find pilon that is dark chocolate-brown, comparable in color to black walnut.

It is durable and fairly resistant to termites but difficult to impregnate and prone to decomposition, especially under ground level. It has an excellent durability.
